Tehnicas timber office

Project description

Following past collaborations with TehnicaS on production halls, this project sets on creating the headquarters for the company. The building, placed in the vicinity of the production area, is a stand-alone, single story building with a central receiving area surrounded by vegetation. Besides being an office and research facility, it is also meant to showcase the fine timber products the company produces. The central reception area encloses a “greenhouse with generous vegetation” that sits under a collection of sleek glued timber beams that hold up the split trough roof. The starting points of the building are the common meeting place of the craftsmen (starting from the work area of the founder craftsman) and the light strip. From these two proportions combined grew and generated the shells and outer and inner spaces. The laminated wood and CLT structure, in combination with glass and metal structural accents, was thought of. Another special element is the approach to the project, without which it would have been impossible to achieve such a project with the final quality and feeling. Instead of the usual trinomial architect-client-executor, in the case of the Technical Headquarters it became the binomial: architect – (client/builder) which along the way was felt and transformed into 1 team. 3 -> 2 -> 1!

ARHIGest is a design studio that, since its founding in 2004, has evolved and developed constantly, taking on to procuring integrated services of design, execution tracking and technical consulting for civil, industrial and agricultural constructions for a diverse array of clients from both the public and the private sectors. No matter the complexity, we approach each project with equal and utmost dedication because we are aware that, nowadays, quality does not lie only in fulfilling the clients’ demands, but also in the capacity of identifying and anticipating the unexpressed requirements of each project. One field of interest in which we are actively involved is building and built environment ecology. We participate in pilot projects for experimental construction techniques. We are preoccupied with natural and passive/low-energy buildings, understood especially from the point of view of a healthy living/inhabiting climate, rather that an energy efficiency from an financial stand-point.
